Common Name(s): Variegated Fred Ives, Graptoveria Fred Ives Variegata

Origin: A cultivated hybrid, created in horticulture.

Description:
Graptoveria ‘Fred Ives’ variegated is a stunning and rare form of the classic hybrid, created by crossing Graptopetalum paraguayense with Echeveria gibbiflora . Originally bred by Albert Baynes, founder of the National Cactus & Succulent Society, this variegated version captivates with its large rosettes of fleshy, pointed leaves that display a mesmerising blend of colours . The leaves feature striking variegation in shades of cream, white, or soft yellow along the margins, blending into a lime-green to violet-pink base that shifts with the seasons and sunlight exposure . Each plant is uniquely patterned due to the uneven distribution of chlorophyll, making every specimen one-of-a-kind . A mature rosette can reach up to 30 cm in diameter, producing numerous offsets that form a lush, multi-layered cluster . In summer, it may send up tall stems bearing delicate pale yellow flowers, sometimes flushed with reddish spots .

Care:
☀️ Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to partial sun. Provide full morning sun or protect under 40% shade net during harsh afternoon rays .
💧 Water: Drought-tolerant. Water well in spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce significantly in winter .
🌱 Soil: Requires a gritty, well-draining succulent mix. Coco peat or a sandy soil blend is recommended .
🌡️ Temp: Protect from frost. Not cold-hardy; keep above 5°C (41°F) .
🌸 Flowering: Produces pale yellow flowers on tall stems in summer .

Pet Friendly: ✅ Non-toxic – Generally considered safe for cats and dogs.

Propagation: Easily propagated from leaf cuttings or stem cuttings during the growing season.
